playita de yelapa
Years ago while Miki Shapiro was leaving her longtime Yelapa Hacienda, I bought a print of the “playita de yelapa” done by artist extraordinaire, Lee Chapman. I loved it and amazing but true was really my only piece of art I owned. Years later during a summer, I was visiting Isabels and on the floor behind a desk something caught my eye. It was the original of the painting! I called her in Boonville and asked about the treasure. She too had bought the painting from Miki’s estate sale. She gladly loaned me the original and it now sits proudly in my office. Today, I spoke with Lee about the art and offered to return it to him. He kindly told me that the art should stay in Yelapa. When you get a chance come by and see it for yourself.
