Chalako
Meet the master of the canoe, Roberto Ramos Castillion who was taught the art of woodwork and canoe building from his Dad, Leopoldo Ramos Tovar. This is the end of the line. Sorry to state that no one was able to learn and or to continue the art of making canoes, much to the fact that Parota trees of that size are restricted from cutting. Chalako lives ocean front in Pizota and at 78 yrs. old still travels back and forth from Pizota to Yelapa and Chacala. He is always ready for a party, dance or pretty women. If you see him on the trail make sure to say hello to this living legend.
