The Cohete is a large part of the Celebration of Guadalupe. The first of the morning starts at 5am , roughly waking you from your sleep and then as the locals parade down the path, varios are set free. Once the group arrives at the church, a few , in a row are set off to let you know its time for mass and of course another few, after mass is over. With a little experience , you can hear the “fttth” giving you a few seconds to brace yourself. After nine days, they take a bit of a toll on your sleep but as the celebration just ended, I’m feeling sad that it will be a year before I hear them again. Here is a quicktime clip for you
