raw beauty

It’s a good feeling to know there is still raw untouched land in the world and today I visited some. Pizota, located 10 minutes south by boat from Yelapa is like going back a 100 years in time. It is a great location for a day visit and also an overnight. My friend, Fidencio has a nice casa located above his that is now available for rent. The ocean was so clear and warm. We ate a few fresh coconuts and mostly relaxed… Viva Pizota!

In April 2005, we took a panga ride to the beach in Pizota and hiked for about an hour to a beautiful waterfall in the jungle. Our guide was very knowledgeable about all the plants, animals, etc. and spoke good English. The highlight of the trip was swimming under the falls and in the big lagoon. The day was very warm, especially with the exertion, but the water was very cool! We saw land crabs scurry across the leafy terrain and climbed over big boulders in streams surrounded with all sorts of vegetation. This was as “raw” and close to nature as you can get. I agree, Viva Pizota!
