During a recent celebration and a round of stories accompanied by a few shots of raicilla, I was facinated to hear of the Alicante, a local snake that resembles a rattle snake but this snake has two arms! Yup… you read that right! Two arms that it uses to sort of defend or deflect with. My friend, who was born here in Yelapa, assured me this wasn’t a bit of Mexican Folklore. Tonight during a visit, he casually told me that his wife killed one today at his casa. I grabed my pen and paper and hence the picture. After his visit, I headed for my internet connection to see what I could find. Just by coincidence, a rare, two headed ladder snake was found in the Alicante Region of Spain. On another site, I read of the mexican folklore of an old snake, by the same name that grows feathers and then can fly. I’m glad I made my friend promise to capture the next Alicante that crosses his path.

Unusual creatures are a norm here. Yesterday, as I woke from a siesta, Vero told me of a strange creature she and a friend encountered, in the yard. She grabbed her camera and snaped a shot. Sorry to tease you but… It will be a week or so till our next Vallarta visit and film developing possibilities. Here’s a hint… It was a Monstersaur. I promise you’ll be the first to see the pics of either… stay tuned.
